ACN, ANPP, others condemn Asadu’s murder

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) have condemn the killing of the Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chinwike Asadu, by unknown gunmen.
In separate statements by national publicity secretaries of the parties, Alhaji Lai Mohammed of ACN and Benard Akoma of APGA (interim), the duo were unanimous that no one is safe if such a high ranking security officer can be cheaply gunned down in such manner.
Mohammed urged the police high command to ensure that the killers are caught and brought to justice. “Because of their onerous tasks, the police personnel and other security agents deserve a reinforced level of security. They need to be alive and well before they can protect the lives and property of others,” he said.
Akoma said “Asadu murder sends so many messages. One would have expected that a commissioner of police goes with a full complement of police escort. One would also imagine that a commissioner of police enjoys the protection of his colleagues once he is out of his own zone.
National publicity secretary of the party, Emma Eneukwu, said yesterday in a statement Asadu’s murder is a reprehensible action which ought to belong only to the imaginative plots of thriller movies.
“In recent times Nigeria has been enmeshed in several unsolved mysterious deaths perpetrated by so-called unknown gunmen; thereby making our streets dreadful and our hinterlands theatres of crime,” he said.
