IBB, Akilu, govs attend wedding fatiha of Dantata, Indimi
The former Nigerian President, General Ibrahim Babangida, Brigadier General Alilu Akilu (rtd) as well as governors of Kogi and Borno States, Captain Idris Wada and Alhaji Kashim Shettima were among the high profile personalities who attended yesterday’s wedding fatiha of families of Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi and that of Dantata.
The wedding fatiha, which took place in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, was between Usman Dantata and Rukaiyah Indimi whose Alwali was Genaral IBB.
The wedding was low key, probably due to insecurity in the State.
Security personnel were fully deployed to the Damboa road, resident of Alhaji Indimi to avert any unforeseen incident.
Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, who also graced the occasion practically took over the chief host’s duty, as he personally deployed his aides to receive and see off the visiting guests at the airport.
The former Nigerian President played the role of Alwali (ceremonial father that gives out daughter for nuptials) for Rukaiyah Indimi.
Sources close to the families said they chose a rather quiet wedding in view of the security situation in the State.
After the brief occasion, IBB, Governor Wada, Akilu and other dignitaries were later treated to a luncheon at the Government House, Maiduguri at the courtesy of Governor Shettima.
